American musician and actor Awkwafina began her career with hilarious hip-hop tracks that addressed sexual identity and race with a an incisive and humorous perspective, before broadening her reach to Hollywood. Nora Lum began her musical path as a trumpeter. Her birthplace was Forest Hills Queens, she was the child of Chinese immigrants as well as Koreans. After a classical and jazz education her interest in hip-hop grew when she was an teen. While in college, she took classes in the field of women's studies and journalism. Then, she even had an hour studying Mandarin at the University of Beijing. After graduating, it wasn't until that she turned her attention towards music. After gaining viral fame through the Internet and her own My Vag song My Vag was a reaction to Mickey Avalon's My Dick. It eventually made its way onto the album she released, Yellow Ranger. On the album, there also were viral songs like Queef (body-positive) as well as NYC Bitche$1. The final track was linked directly to Awkwafina's NYC travel guide released in the year 2015. With musician and author as her credentials, she set her sights on acting in a third project. In addition to early shows like Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in movies such as Neighbors as well as Storks. Her breakout performances included Dude Ocean's 8, and Crazy Rich Asians. That June she issued the EP In Fina We Trust.
